Maneater lets players ravage the city of Portclovis as a mutant shark on a mission, and now a DLC will take them beyond the net.

For those players that loved Maneater, the self proclaimed shARkPG, today's news is certain to conjure up a smile. Tripwire Interactive, the brilliant mind behind the game, has just announced that players will be getting a DLC to extend the story and the world in Summer of 2021. It must be said that this announcement did come on none other than April Fool's Day, so it's entirely possible that the whole thing is a prank, but the trailer and the announcement both seem legit. Although there weren't a ton of details in the new trailer, but a press release reveals important information about the DLC.

This DLC is particularly notable for those that were invested in the base game's story, as Maneater left things intentionally ambiguous with its ending. It seems that fans may finally get to see what really happened after the cut to black at the end of the story mode, and they may even get some answers to other lingering questions.

Maneater: Truth Quest promises to take players outside of the net on a search for the truth. Although it was mostly played off during the game, this DLC seeks to answer the question of what makes the Bull Shark so special. Throughout the course of the game, she is able to grow into the mythical Mega, develop mutations that allow her to manifest bioelectricity, bone armor, or biotoxins, and more. The new DLC will provide in game explanations for this, but players will have to work to uncover these secrets.

In terms of actual gameplay additions, players will be able to get an entirely new evolution set. New organ adaptations will become available, and the max level cap will increase up to 40, bringing the maximum size for the player's shark up with it. As the player grows in size and power, so too will the other creatures of the sea they must fight. Stronger Apex Predators will appear, and players will have to deal with increased military forces when they stir the pot. There's even going to be new objectives and bounty hunts available.

Assuming this isn't an April Fool's joke, Maneater: Truth Quest is scheduled to release sometime this Summer. The new content will cost $14.99, but players will finally be able to leave Portclovis and explore new regions. Players will join investigative reporter Trip Westview and their bull shark protagonist to uncover the secrets that the government has tried to hide.

Maneater is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
