The Atlanta Braves shares a Call of Duty: Warzone-inspired video announcing the lineup for the opening day game against the Phillies.

The professional baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, started off the Opening Day of the 2021 season by posting a video inspired by Call of Duty: Warzone. Although the Braves's video is not an exact copy, it clearly mimics the main screen of Call of Duty: Warzone. The video was a way for the Braves to announce the official lineup for the MLB event in an original manner.

Even though it might not seem like Call of Duty has anything to do with sports, this is not the first time both things have come together in an interesting way. Recently, for example, an NFL trade was discovered during a match of Call of Duty. It turned out that the husband of one of the players was Rashaad Coward from the Chicago Bears and he was heard in the background talking about a possible deal to change teams. Additionally, many people in sports turn to video games in their free time to blow off some steam, just like Patrick Mahomes from Kansas City or the whole Arizona Cardinals team.

This time, fans got to see how baseball and video games look when merged together as the Braves showed its lineup as if it were the main screen of Call of Duty: Warzone. The video starts with a title screen saying "Atlanta Braves starting lineup" instead of "Call of Duty: Warzone" and a "Press A to start" banner right below it. Next, there is a screen showing the different players one by one with a list of them in batting order to the left. Even though it is clearly different from the COD main screen, it does keep the general layout from the game.

The Braves's innovative way to announce its lineup was well received by Call of Duty fans on Twitter. So far, the video has over 444 thousand views, almost 10 thousand likes, and over 4 thousand retweets (quoted and otherwise). Most importantly, the video did not go unnoticed by the Call of Duty Twitter account which replied to the social media post saying "homerun."

Unfortunately, the video was not enough to secure a win for the Braves on Opening Day as the team lost to the Philadelphia Phillies. On the bright side, this is only the first game and the Braves have plenty of time to turn things around with upcoming games. Furthermore, the Braves will go up against the Phillies again this weekend so the team will have another shot to grab a win and avenge the opening day loss. In any case, fans seem to consider that the creative team behind the Atlanta Braves lineup announcement did score a win today with their Call of Duty: Warzone-inspired video.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
