Even though Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba shonen manga ended in 2020 after 23 volumes, the series has remained firmly in the spotlight thanks to ufotable's anime. While hardly unusual for an adaptation to eclipse the source material's popularity, Demon Slayer is a fairly unique case since the anime turned an internationally unknown property into a household name. Gotouge's story was not some hidden gem known by only the most committed of Weekly Shonen Jump readers, but it arguably did not have the same level of exposure as My Hero Academia or Attack on Titan. The anime not only pushed the property into that ballpark but, in some ways, exceeded both of those juggernauts.
