It's an exciting time to be a Pokemon fan, with the upcoming Pokemon Unite MOBA, the sequel to Pokemon Snap coming in April, and the franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, it seems that there may be even more to look forward to. And while The Pokemon Company has already announced some plans to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary, fans are looking forward to one thing: new mainline Pokemon games.
As has become custom for the series, its older games tend to receive remakes every few years, bringing updated graphics, new features, and more, and most Pokemon rumors and supposed leaks floating around as of late mention remakes of the series' 4th generation games, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Now, new listings in GameStop's internal system have fans speculating that they could be for the new long-awaited remakes.

Earlier today, established Pokemon leaker Centro Pokemon LEAKS made a tweet along with a photo of one of GameStop's internal systems listing 2 unnamed and unreleased games. While nothing is certain at the moment, Centro Pokemon notes that in the past, GameStop has supposedly added game SKUs to its system shortly before being announced.
The photo, which supposedly comes from a GameStop employee communicating with Centro Pokemon, shows that the 2 new SKU's are for Nintendo Switch games in particular. Of course, while these newly added SKU's could be for any upcoming Switch games, fans have drawn a connection to Pokemon Day, taking place in just a few days on February 27. While nothing has been announced as of yet, The Pokemon Company has held Pokemon Direct presentations on Pokemon Day before, announcing upcoming games, plans for the year, and much more. Now, with this year's Pokemon Day taking place on the franchise's 25th anniversary, fans are expecting some big announcements.
Additionally, since 2 new Nintendo Switch game SKUs appeared alongside each other, fans have drawn the connection that they could be Pokemon games, since mainline games tend to be released in pairs, such as Pokemon Sword and Shield. While this rumor is certainly exciting, Centro Pokemon urged fans to take the information with a grain of salt, reaffirming that they in no way have direct access to GameStop's internal system.
It's worth noting that some other Nintendo fans have chimed in on the conversation, suggesting that the new Switch game SKU's could be for upcoming ports of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, celebrating Zelda's 35th anniversary. With Nintendo's abundance of anniversaries as of late, it's safe to say that these SKU's could be for anything, but for now, Pokemon fans are holding out hope for Pokemon Day.
