With New Pokemon Snap arriving next month, Switch owners who are ready to put their photography skills to the test are close to getting their chance. While the general idea of the title is easy to understand, especially for those who played the original game, there are a lot of new features and Pokemon that Nintendo has added to New Pokemon Snap. A peek at this new content was previewed through a recent gameplay video that highlights Blushing Beach.
Thanks to the Switch's hardware capabilities and a slew of new Pokemon added since the N64 days, New Pokemon Snap is providing a much more elevated experience. Game Informer provided a peek at just what this title is offering by showing off a segment of the game in an area called Blushing Beach. As expected, it's littered with Water-type Pokemon, which can be observed both on land and in the water. The Pokemon that are present also changes depending on the time of day. During the five-minute gameplay preview, audiences get to see what changes occur once the game goes from day to night.

The video also took time to demonstrate the photo editing in New Pokemon Snap, where players can adjust brightness, add filters, and make other changes to their photos. Additionally, players can also add frames and stickers to whatever they capture on film. These features allow for even more special touches to photos before players share them online. Nintendo will include its own form of online sharing network, but after saving photos to the Switch, they'll be ready for any social media platform.
There will be a lot of Pokemon to discover within the game, many of which are the standard variety found in many of the series' titles. But players can also coax out rarer ones by performing certain actions and researching their habits. During a recent Pokemon Presents, it was also announced that the mythical Pokemon Celebi can be found in New Pokemon Snap. It's unknown at this time if Celebi will be the only mythical or legendary Pokemon to make an appearance.
From Dynamax to Mega Evolutions, the franchise has introduced several ways Pokemon can change. In New Pokemon Snap, players will be researching Illumina Pokemon, a phenomenon they will encounter as they tour the island. According to Nintendo, it is a mysterious occurrence where Pokemon and vegetation begin to glow. This has been observed in trailers, but what causes this phenomenon is unclear at this time. It seems to be one of the biggest mysteries in the game that players will likely have to uncover as they venture through the wilderness. Professor Mirror, the Pokemon professor in New Pokemon Snap, will aid them in their research.
New Pokemon Snap is set to launch on April 30, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
