Watch Dogs: Legion is set to have a summer full of new content, with new campaigns, cosmetics, and crossovers coming down the pipeline.

Watch Dogs: Legion released in the fall of last year with big promises, in terms of gameplay. The game boasted that any and all NPCs would be playable, as long as the player put in the time into recruiting them. No NPC is perfect, however, and each rely on the other members of their team as much as they do themselves. In Watch Dogs: Legion, players are tasked with taking down a shadow terrorist organization that framed DedSec. Now, Ubisoft is seeking to evolve this experience even further with a summer full of DLC that will offer something for all fans.

Watch Dogs shared a roadmap in March of this year that listed all of its planned DLC through August 2021. The roadmap is chock-full of new characters, operations, and story expansions that will get players to pick up Legion again. The DLC started dropping in April, and most recently released a completely new mode for the game featuring the undead. As the months start ticking by, many fans are curious what Watch Dogs: Legion has in store next.

While the mechanics that were in Watch Dogs: Legion were truly fun to mess around with, it often felt a little light in terms of narrative content. That has been changing and will continue to evolve with the number of updates coming to the game, including the June 1 update featuring the new Legion of the Dead mode, which brings zombies to DedSec's London. The new mode is co-op and features four survivors attempting to make their way through the hordes of the undead. Players will have access to some of the abilities and tech available in the base game.

One of the best parts of Watch Dogs: Legion is being able to take the reigns as any NPC that the player sees in the game. There have also been a number of character that are premium heroes and only available with an additional purchase. Owners of the season pass have already been able to take advantage of Mina being added, but Ubisoft is also planning to put in Darcy, Aiden Pearce, and Wrench before fall rolls around. Each new character is also likely to have some kind of story or mission that explains their place in London during the game.

Scheduled for the end of August, the Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin's Creed crossover will be free content accessible to all players. There hasn't been a lot of details revealed about the crossover, but some developers have said that players can expect a fun fan-service that takes advantage of the best of both game series. One has to wonder if an Assassin will show up in London, or a Templar for DedSec to hunt down. Look forward to more details as August gets nearer.

When Watch Dogs: Legion released, it was to mostly positive reviews with some noting that the content had a tendency to be a bit repetitive. Hopefully, these new gameplay and character updates will provide the game with some much-needed diversity. If the gameplay can evolve and improve, and Watch Dogs: Legion evolves into a kind of service game, it's likely that there will soon be enough content to please even the strictest of critics. It should also be noted that this series of updates is likely only the beginning for Watch Dogs: Legion, with a big future ahead.

Watch Dogs: Legion is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
