Griftlands has exited early access and is now a fully launched deckbuilding roguelite with three stories to unlock and play through. It's filled with fun characters, in-depth lore, and a fun gameplay loop that has players questioning if it will come to Switch.
The first character unlocked to play in Klei Entertainment's Griftlands is Sal, a ruthless fighter and thief who has just bought out her own indentured servitude. Hot off the prison she spent her childhood on, she's out to hunt down Kashio, the woman who killed her parents and sold her. Here's a guide to beat Kashio once Sal finally catches up to her.

Kashio is the final boss of Sal's story, which makes sense as the story is called Hunting Kashio. As such, she's a powerful enemy and not exactly predictable For comparison, while a boss like Slay the Spire's Corrupt Heart may be a stat giant, it's very predictable. What players need to be aware of is that Kashio, on the other hand, is different every time she's fought, so there's no hard and fast deckbuilding rule for her.
The plan to corner Kashio emerges early in Sal's story: storming an important auction where Kashio has been brought on as security. Sal must ally with either the Admiralty or the bandit group called the Spree to break in. Before the auction, Sal's contact in the ally organization will require Sal to help in some way. This could be a negotiation or a fight, but doing what they want is paramount. If successful, they will allow Sal to take one of five valuable items (Grafts or cards) for free. Afterwards, Sal can (and should) take part in the auction to get another item. Be warned: just like the original Pokemon rival taking the Pokemon players leaves behind, Kashio will use whatever items the player don't take.
It really matters what items Kashio has, so here are a few she must absolutely not have:
- Blast Chamber: it gives Kashio an extra attack each turn and, if taken by Sal, gives an extra action point each turn. Take this before anything else.
- Suitcase Grenade: an extra attack for Kashio each turn that hits Sal and all her allies. Again, Kashio must not have this.
- Discharge Pistol: Kashio gains counter every second turn. Not ideal, because counter can really shred Sal's health if she's attempting an infinite combo.
On the other hand, the Rentorian Force Glaive and Support Beacon should probably be given to Kashio if possible. Both are fairly easy to deal with and not super great for Sal, so give them up. Of special note is the Hologram Belt, which creates Kashio Clones each turn so the player has to try and find the real one. It's obnoxious, but not a super high priority. Remember, Kashio hates Sal and will exclusively attack her, so pets and allies won't mitigate damage. Keep guard high and strike hard when a good hand is drawn. It's not an easy fight, but it's definitely a worthwhile win.
Griftlands is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
