Pokemon GO players can now capture the all new Gen 5 Pokemon Mienfoo, but doing so is actually a bit of a process. For most Pokemon, players can find them by simply walking around in the right area. Others require players to complete research tasks, and some are only found in eggs. Mienfoo is a bit different from all of these, however, as it instead can only be captured by players that take part in the competitive aspect of the game, GO Battle League. While this may sound intimidating to more casual players, it isn't terribly difficult to do, so it's worth at least giving it a try.
For those that don't know Pokemon GO's Season 8 GO League started recently, and with it comes a whole new set of rewards. The Mienfoo encounter is actually a reward as part of this league, so players are going to have to engage with it if they want to get the Pokemon. It could be that Mienfoo and its evolution are made available in another way down the line, but at the moment this is the only way to get them.

In order to find Mienfoo, players need to reach level 5 in the GO League. Thankfully, this means that players won't have to delve too far into the league in order to get him, as this is a guaranteed encounter. Players that happen to fail to catch Mienfoo or that want to get more candies can encounter the Pokemon again as long as they are at least level 5 in the League.
Getting to level 5 requires players to win a total of 17 battles in the GO League.
- From level 1, it takes five victorious battles in order to rank up and reach level 2.
- Players must then manage to win three more battles while they are level 2 in order to ascend to level 3.
- Getting to level 4 requires beating four battles with other players.
- Finally, players must win five more battles in order to hit level 5.
Players that manage to do all of that listed above will reach level 5 and then have their guaranteed Mienfoo encounter.
Mienfoo is a pure fighting type Pokemon first introduced in the Unova region of Pokemon Black and White. Players that want to evolve it into Mienshao will need to collect a total of 50 Mienfoo Candy. This means that without the use of berries or Rare Candy, players will need to capture around 17 Mienfoo to get enough.
