There are a lot of changes coming to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, but fans are fixated on the new textures for Cloud's apartment door.

There's less than a week until Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade finally releases and fans are able to relive the story on next generation hardware. A lot is changing in this new PS5 version, but fans seem to have pinpointed one minor change that's actually rather hilarious. It seems as though the new textures in the Intergrade version of the game addressed the infamous door bug, making the door to Cloud's apartment look like an actual door for once. This "door meme" as it was lovingly referred to as by fans was also a major point of criticism, as many fans felt the game's textures were inadequate.

The door in question can be found in the Sector 7 slums, specifically in the apartment building that Tifa introduces to the player. Despite its prevalence and the number of times that Final Fantasy 7 Remake players return to this area during the early chapters of the game, the door's textures were infamously laughable.

Given that he lives in the Slums, no one was expecting Cloud to have a nice apartment. That said, at the very least one would hope that Marle would be able to supply a fully textured door. Some players simply assumed that the door was meant to be metal, but the new graphical updates in Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal that it is in fact a wooden door. This is somewhat funny because on the one hand, very few people realized that it was supposed to be wooden, but on the other hand, it also showcases just how bad the original texture was.

While many players are happy to see this change, others find a sense of sadness instead. As goofy as it was, Cloud's apartment door became something of a meme in the community, so knowing that it's gone is bittersweet for some. Since none of the Intergrade changes are available on PS4, however, players can still go find it there if they really wanted to. This is a really minor thing, but players are also hopeful that other major textures will get fixed as well.

One of the more egregious offenses happened in chapter 18 of the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. During one cutscene, the entire background looks like a blurry image rather than actual textures that are pleasant to look at. These types of things will likely be addressed in the PS5 version, and that's likely where a lot of the large file size of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade comes from.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PS4 and on June 10th for PS5.
