After speculation and suspicions among fans, Epic confirms that Primal and Makeshift weapons will leave Fortnite in Chapter 2, Season 7.

Earlier this year, Epic Games introduced a much-needed breath of fresh air to Fortnite with the addition of an all-new crafting mechanic, which allowed players to use foraged materials from mechanical devices and wildlife to craft Primal and Mechanical weapons. These weapons were upgraded versions of the new Makeshift weapons, and they could even be upgraded themselves to higher rarities using foraged materials.

The more familiar Mechanical weapons in Fortnite have provided players with less power, but higher accuracy, while Primal weapons kicked up the damage, while decreasing accuracy, reflecting Chapter 2 Season 6's more wild Primal theme. Now that Season 6 is coming to an end, it seems that the Primal theme is on the way out as well, as it has been announced that Primal and Makeshift weapons will not be returning.

Over on Twitter, the official Fortnite service update account FortniteStatus confirmed many fans' suspicions that the Primal and Makeshift weapons from Season 6 will not be making a return in Chapter 2 Season 7, as a new tweet states that the Primal Season, along with Makeshift weapons, are going "extinct." The new tweet also announced that Fortnite server downtime in preparation for Season 7 will begin at 2 am ET.

For the time being, it is unclear whether weapon crafting as a whole will be disappearing in Fortnite Season 7, but it seems that with the departure of the Primal season, fans can expect to say goodbye to Primal and Makeshift weapons tonight. At the start of Season 6, many fans expressed frustration over a lack of balance when it came to Primal weapons, the Primal Shotgun in particular, which boasted an incredibly quick fire rate as well as high damage output. Of course, these complaints were addressed in Fortnite's balance patches over time, as well as with the return of the fan-favorite Tactical Shotgun.

While Fortnite's newest season is still quite mysterious, fans at least know that the Pulsar 9000 weapon from the game's Save the World mode is coming over to the battle royale thanks to a Season 7 teaser posted on social media. So far, other mysterious weapons like some sort of gravity gun and a type of plasma pistol have appeared in Chapter 2 Season 7 teasers.

While nothing is confirmed as of yet, many hints for Fortnite's upcoming season seem to be pointing to an alien/space theme, taking somewhat of a complete 180 from the current Primal theme. The Season 7 story cinematic is also set to premiere late tonight at 12 am PT, so fans can be sure to learn more about what exactly is going on in the world of Fortnite very soon.

Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
