One of the biggest moments in Cruella resulted in fans making some gut-busting memes.

The Cruella movie went live on Disney + on May 28, 2021, and it had one spoiler that spread through the internet like wildfire. Turns out that Cruella's mother was actually killed by dalmatians. They attack her and she falls off a cliff.

Of course, the context is a little more complex within the film itself. The dalmatians actually belonged to and were controlled by an evil baroness. Estella (Cruella's name before she becomes Cruella) goes on a mission of revenge against the baroness, not the dalmatians themselves. This also has received criticism as it makes it unknown why Cruella would later want to skin puppies for coats.

The fact still stands that her guardian was killed by dalmatians and that set the tone for the movie. Understandably, social media had a field-day of memes for this cheesy backstory for one of Disney's most greedy villains.

10 "Because Dalmatians Killed My Mother"

This scene from Trolls was one of the heavier ones, with the reveal that Branch blamed himself for the death of a family member. It's become popular meme material though, as it's a quick way to address similar motivations and tragic backstories.

Technically, the woman killed by the dalmatians was not Estella's biological mother (that is revealed to be the evil baroness in another twist). However, the woman killed by dalmatians was her guardian and was considered her mother.

9 Mom's Grave

This popular gravestone meme has been used for all kinds of fandoms. The history of the meme is interesting, as it is actually American actor Grant Gustin posing next to Oliver Queen's Grave. It was originally posted on Instagram in 2020.

Of course, it was perfect to make a meme for Cruella. The dalmatians did little but be scary and kill Estella's poor mother. There have been concerns that the film will make audiences falsely see dalmatians as a more violent and dangerous dog breed.

8 "You Took Everything From Me"

The "You took everything from me" meme actually stems from Avengers: Endgame. The Scarlet Witch tells Thanos that he took everything from her, to which he classically responds with "I don't even know who you are." It is one of many memes spawned by Endgame.

This version has Estella instead of the Scarlet Witch and a dalmatian instead of Thanos. The comparison between Thanos and a dalmatian in itself is hilarious.

7 Dalmatian With A Gun

The original comic is from Hellboy to which the original quotes are "Is that a monkey?" and Hellboy shouts "He has a gun," and shows a monkey shooting in the third panel. That alone is ridiculous and funny, so fandoms have used it for similarly ridiculous content.

Part of the comedy Cruella memes have is in the dalmatian imagery. Fans have used both adorable pups and nightmare fuel dalmatians for the purpose of making fun of the movie.  The dalmatian here certainly ranges more towards nightmare fuel with its sharp teeth and human hands.

6 "No Way That's The Plot Of The Movie, Right?"

Many Disney fans have gotten tired of re-tellings and remakes of Disney classics, so they were already prepared to deal out criticism to Cruella. The reveal of her mother being killed my dalmatians made such fans go wild. After all, it is possibly the most unoriginal idea and one that could be made up as a joke.

However, the movie is more complex than this meme gives credit for. In fact, some fans see the movie an an alternate timeline Cruella. Within the movie, she does not actually seem to hate dogs and even has a trusted dog companion of her own.

5 "A Fatal Dalmatian Accident"

This meme was made with the image and quote from the hilarious vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. Originally, this quote says "Turn that thing off! Our friend has just been killed in a fatal sunlight accident." After seeing or hearing about the Cruella mother spoiler though, someone had the idea to replace a couple words.

Of course, the dalmatians killing her was not exactly an accident.

4 Dalmatian Fanart

One of the biggest platforms on the internet that spawned Cruella memes was Twitter. The tag for the movie had some hidden gems such as this fanart a Twitter user made. Once again, a meme with dalmatian nightmare fuel.

The way the dalmatians pushed the mother off a cliff was a pretty insane scene. They all rush her and push her to her death. Its true to the nature of Disney killing parents, as it is even reminiscent of Mufasa's tragic end in The Lion King. However, the mother goes flying instead of hanging on for dear life like Mufasa did.

3 Sparta Kick

300 movie memes date back to 2006. The Sparta kick was a huge meme for a while, referencing a scene in which Leonidas yells "Madness? This is Sparta!" and kicks a Persian messenger to his death. The line delivery was feral and badass, making it quoted even by people who never watched the movie for themselves.

Of course, someone saw their chance to revive the old meme from the dead after seeing the death of Estella's mother. They replaced Leonidas with a dalmatian and the Persian messenger with the unfortunate mother.

2 Good And Evil

More flying off cliffs! In terms of the meme, it is more obscure than the Spartan kick or posing next to a gravestone picture. A lot is going on in the photo. One guy is flying off a cliff while the other appears to be preparing a kamehamaha attack from Dragon Ball. There is also the descriptions of good and evil for them.

Calling the dalmatians evil is pretty hilarious, as they are just dogs and people usually side with animals in movies. Cruella did strive to make them as intimidating as possible though.

1 The Joker Meme

Cruella has actually been compared to The Joker movie by many fans and critics. Both movies give sympathetic backstories to these classic villains that people usually have seen as one-dimensional. These comparisons did make their way into the memes as well.

This meme isn't comparing the two though, it a quote from The Joker being used with some words replaced to reflect fandom thoughts on Cruella.
