14 Exciting Things Nintendo Announced at E3 2021 | Game Rant

Nintendo had plenty of exciting news to share at 2021's E3. Let's take a look at some of their highlights.

It's that time of year again. E3 is a huge time for video games, with big title announcements dropped by the truckload every day. This year didn't let fans down, despite significant changes to the show's structure. Nintendo made a big splash with their exciting announcements with regards to some big name series.

This was a big E3 for Nintendo, and they seemed dead set on delivering on fan expectations. The hype didn't disappoint. Nintendo die-hards are ecstatic over the news of classic series getting new releases, fresh sequels, and lots of surprise content. Here are some of the highlights.

14 Metroid Dread Is Coming To The Switch

Starting with the biggest news, the next entry in the Metroid series is long overdue and fans are geeked to see Samus return on the Switch. The franchise goes back to its roots with a 2D game that is a direct sequel to the classic Metroid: Fusion.

It's been a long time coming, but fans can breathe easy knowing Samus will be returning to their hands once more. The game is scheduled for an October 8 release.

13 A Deeper Look At Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2

Nintendo struck gold with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The series' latest title perfectly combined the dungeon crawler puzzle gameplay of the classic Zelda games with the exploration aspect of an open-world game.

Nintendo looks to expand on the Breath of the Wild story with a sequel of epic proportions, as shown through a new teaser trailer. The game is scheduled for a 2022 release on the Switch.

12 Kazuya Mishima Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

A new fighter enters the arena. Smash players are used to new characters popping up on the regular, but Nintendo delivered big on this latest addition to the roster.

Tekken's own Kayuza Mishima will be joining the fray as a playable character. More information, including a release date, will come soon. Expect lots of wild brawling and incredible finishing moves.

11 More Information On Shin Megami Tensei V

Nintendo is nailing it in the sequel department this year. Shin Megami Tensei V is an upcoming entry in a beloved franchise that has fans foaming at the mouth.

Set in modern day Tokyo, the story will revolve around a high-school student drawn into a demonic world and will feature classic gameplay mechanics alongside a collection of new features. Nintendo released a new trailer at E3 that showcased some of the gameplay and environments. They also announced a November 12 release date.

10 WarioWare Is Coming Back

The man in yellow returns, and this time he's brought friends. WarioWare: Get It Together! will be hitting Switches on September 10, this time with some new playable characters.

Fans of the classic party game series can expect a heaping ensemble of wacky new minigames, further emphasis on co-op, and zany use of the Switch' controllers. Prepare for the hijinks!

9 Mario Is Teaming Up With The Rabbids Again

One of the stranger alliances in video games is getting another entry in the series. That's right, a sequel is coming for the 2017 game, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

The new series entry, titled Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, will follow a similar turn-based tactical combat structure. New areas and characters will spice things up for players, keeping the series plenty interesting. The game is scheduled for a 2o22 release on the Switch.

8 Advance Wars Makes A Long-Awaited Return

Here's another old-school Nintendo series that is long overdue for a reboot, coming to a new generation of gamers. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will be a remake of the first two Advance War games.

The new release will update the game's graphics for the modern age ,without compromising any of the awesome strategic turn-based combat goodness. The game is scheduled for a December 3 release on the Switch.

7 A Retro Zelda-Themed Handheld

Nintendo continues their practice of re-releasing old-school systems with a new flair. The Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda system will include three classic Zelda games (The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening). It also includes Vermin, a classic Game & Watch title that will feature Link as a playable character.

The system will also feature a digital clock and timer based off the first two Zelda games respectively. This fun addition to the world of Nintendo systems will release on November 12.  

6 The Party Continues

It's always a party with Mario PartyThe next entry in the series will explore its origins by collecting mini games and boards from the classic games of parties past.

The game will feature online play on top of all that too, so gamers can join in to party with their friends from anywhere. Mario Party Superstars is scheduled for release on October 29.

5 Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Is Coming To The Switch

The Switch gets another big name release with this title. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will finally release for the Switch on September 24, letting Nintendo players fight and explore their way through the open world one brawl at a time.

The Boss Battle Episodes "A New Power Awakens Parts 1 and 2" will also be included in the Switch port, giving players plenty of excitement.

4 Life Gets Stranger

One of the most popular episodic adventure games in recent memory, Life is Strangetook the gaming world by storm when it first released in 2o15. Now it is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch.

Life is Strange Remastered Collection is scheduled for release later this year. The collection will feature the first game and its prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, updated with remastered graphics. The next entry, Life is Strange: True Colors, is also slated to release on the Switch on September 10.

3 Super Monkey Ball Rolls Back Onto The Switch

You can't keep a good monkey down. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will be bouncing onto the Switch on October 5, just in time for the franchise's 20th anniversary.

The game will remaster classic levels from the original games, and bring along plenty of fun mini games and goofy characters. And bananas. Lots and lots of bananas.

2 Danganronpa Comes To The Switch

Another great series is making its way onto the Switch later this year. These titles combine adventure, mystery, and romance mixed in with visual novel gameplay. Danganronpa follows a group of high-schoolers coerced into killing each other by a strange bear named Monokuma.

The newest entry in the series, Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, will release sometime in 2021. The first three games will come to the Switch around the same time.

1 Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water Is Getting A Remaster

Lastly, here's another exciting port for the Switch. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water originally released for the Wii U in 2014. It follows a similar gameplay style to the rest of the series, in which players fight vicious ghosts and spirits with a camera.

The original game made full use of the Wii U's control pad, so it will be exciting how the remaster makes use of the Switch's control scheme. The game will also include updated animations and features. It will be released later this year.
