Genshin Impact players can find strategies on how to easily defeat the Vagabond Sword Hateful Oceanid event boss in this short guide.

After vanquishing the Primo Geovishap, the second boss Genshin Impact players will face in the Legend of the Vagabond Sword event is the Hateful Oceanid. While the boss may be the easiest out of those currently available in the event, the Hateful Oceanid fight will still test Genshin Impact player's patience.

For those unfamiliar with the boss, the Hateful Oceanid is a variation of the Raging Rhodeia boss fight featured in the limited-time Wishful Drops event. What makes this fight challenging for most players is, unlike the Oceanid boss found in Wuwang Hill, players must fight the boss in addition to numerous hydro mimics simultaneously in this fight.

Before facing the boss, players should note that four characters receive a 20% damage boost during the challenge. These include Eula, Klee, Rosaria, and Yanfei. While Eula and Klee are both ideal characters to bring into the fight against the hateful Oceanid, they are not necessary as long as players maintain an effective party composition. The two most important roles players should include in their party composition are 1 Cyro elemental character and 1 ranged character.

Throughout the fight, the Hateful Oceanid will spawn numerous hydro mimics that players will have to defeat to redirect their attention back to the boss quickly. What makes this challenging is that sometimes there can be up to four hydro mimics spawned at once. Having a cryo character greatly alleviates this as it allows the player to freeze the mimics and quickly eliminated them with their main DPS.

The second must-have in the fight against the Hateful Oceanid is a ranged character due to the boss's Water Bomb and Hydro Pump abilities. When either of these abilities are cast, the boss will be out of reach to the player and begin charging a massive attack.

While the ability is charging, players have a small amount of time to reach one of the Fitful rapids that will have spawned in the arena. However, once players enter the center of the rapid, it will boost the player into the air and allow them to continually damage the boss with ranged attacks for a short period of time.

In terms of difficulty and flair modifiers, players should opt to increase the Hateful Oceanid's health and attack as much as possible while giving themselves a 300s time limit.

Because of the way the fight is designed, there are numerous instances where players will be unable to attack the boss. As a result, having a longer time limit will allow players to carefully avoid the boss's traps while slowly chipping away at its health with ranged abilities.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
