Smith walks through the new Masters of the Universe: Revelation trailer with an air of excitement, explaining the unfortunate situation that has befallen Eternia. The once magical planet is losing its magic, threatening the extinction of everyone on the planet. In a struggle for survival, superheroes and villains are forced to work together to save the planet. In a series-defining moment, He-Man rips his power sword into two swords, possibly leading to unforeseen consequences. Characters large and small from the franchise all seem to be represented, with Smith touting that there will be "team-ups you never imagined."

Smith explains that his goal in making the show was to make it so that it would "play like the next episode" of the nostalgic franchise.  The main difference, Smith explains, is that characters will die: something never included in the original shows and films. The new series is made for fans of the original instead of children, so Smith claims he did not hesitate to bring on more adult themes. Smith promises an intense reboot of the series full of unexpected turns, a chance to relive childhood expectations of the Masters of the Universe franchise, and also an incredible cast and production crew behind it all.

The Masters of the Universe: Revelation series has an impressive voice acting line-up including Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series) voicing the iconic Skeletor, Chris Wood (Supergirl) as the main protagonist He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Teela, Henry Rollins (Sons of Anarchy) voicing Tri-Klops, Justin Long (Jeepers Creepers) as Roboto, among many other cast members. Smith is the creator and a producer on the show, in collaboration with Powerhouse Animation Studios.

Of course, Smith has worked on numerous projects within the realm of comic books and classic nerd franchises before. Up next for Smith is a horror anthology film titled Killroy Was Here, due for release in 2021.

Relive your childhood with Masters of the Universe: Revelation on Netflix on July 23rd, 2021.
