Lots of actors hate being typecast. There is any number of situations where a certain variety of characters, however enjoyable the first time around, would slowly grind away at the nerves of the individual playing them over time. After all, there's a reason Harrison Ford wanted so badly for George Lucas to kill Han Solo even as far back as The Empire Strikes Back (well, there are a number of reasons, but that's just Ford being Ford). However, Loki star Tom Hiddleston doesn't count himself among those actors who have grown tired of their iconic roles.
Hiddleston is on the other side of that spectrum, along with those actors who love their characters so much that they have no qualms about coming back to the role time and time again. They're few and far between, that's for sure, and it seems the bigger a star they are, the less likely they are to be willing to make such a commitment. But that doesn't mean they aren't there.

Hiddleston recently took part in a Q&A on Tumblr, taking fan queries and giving his responses with that typical Hiddleston charm (and maybe a bit of Loki himself thrown in there). One of the most interesting questions (presumably aside from "wait, Tumblr still exists?") involved a fan asking anonymously whether he would be willing to continue playing Loki "for the rest of your life" if asked. After chuckling at how the "anonymous" fan signed their name at the end of the question, Hiddleston seemed like he didn't even need to think about his answer.
"Yeah, absolutely. I'm so lucky that I've got to play Loki for this long," Hiddleston answered, "he's got so many different aspects, so many different complex characteristics, that it feels like every time I play him I find out something new or we get to evolve him or take him down an avenue that we haven't gone down before." It was a good response, not only giving his answer but explaining exactly why. As shown throughout his appearances, particularly in the Disney Plus Loki series, his character has so much depth that seemingly goes further and further down with each appearance.
Marvel clearly agrees as they've already confirmed a second season of Loki on Disney Plus. So there's plenty more to explore both in Loki's story and his personality. The use of this alternate version of the character was rather ingenious, as it not only allowed for a bit of a fresh start but also introduced the possibility of other Loki variants like Sylvie and the always precious and pure Alligator Loki. So even if Hiddleston eventually sours on the role someday, there's always the chance for the character to adopt a new, Doctor Who-esque face.
Regardless of all that, it's good to know Hiddleston is both open and enthusiastic about continuing the role. Performances are always better when the actors are actually enjoying themselves, after all. So here's to plenty more where that came from, and here's hoping for more Alligator Loki.
Loki is now available on Disney Plus.
