Dead By Daylight is a popular game with a history of horror franchise collaborations, and Netflix's Fear Street should be next on the list.

The survival horror game Dead by Daylight recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, having originally released in June 2016. Players can either take on the role of survivor or killer and play on various maps as they try to escape or kill those around them. Since its release, there have been tons of updates to Dead by Daylight, allowing players on pretty much all platforms to get in on the action. As the game has progressed, there have been new killers, survivors, and maps added via paid or free DLC.

While some of the DLC has been new, unlicensed characters, Dead by Daylight has also collaborated with many of the most well-known horror franchises in both video games and movies. The most recent crossover was Resident Evil, with the new killer Nemesis added alongside Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as survivors. With Dead by Daylight’s history of horror collaborations, the game should consider doing a crossover with a new, but immensely popular, horror series: Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy.

To date, Dead by Daylight has 23 DLC options, 10 of which have been collaborations with major horror titles. The first horror crossover Dead by Daylight released was with Halloween, adding the iconic Michael Myers as a playable killer. Dead by Daylight has also released DLC based on other iconic horror franchises, such as Saw, A Nightmare of Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, and Scream. All of these packs add a variety of well-known killers, survivors, and maps to the game, making for interesting new combinations of gameplay.

Horror franchises aren’t the only collaborations Dead by Daylight has seen, though. It’s also done crossovers with popular horror video game franchises. Most recently it collaborated with Resident Evil, but other franchises like Left 4 Dead and Silent Hill have appeared in the game. Dead by Daylight also collaborated with the hit Netflix series Stranger Things by introducing the Demogorgon as a killer, Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington as survivors, and the Hawkins National Laboratory as a playable map.

Dead by Daylight already has an established relationship with one Netflix IP - Stranger Things - so it’s possible that collaborating with another one wouldn’t be improbable. Fear Street released the first movie of the trilogy at the beginning of July, with the subsequent movies released weekly on Netflix. The movies are based on R.L. Stine’s Fear Street books, and each part was met with positive reviews from viewers.

The Fear Street movies introduce viewers to a slew of potential new killer and survivor characters, whether it be the monsters that Deena Johnson and her friends fight off or the witch behind the evil in Shadyside. Additionally, the Shadyside Mall would be a great map for players to explore considering it’s where the first on-screen murder and near-final showdown occur. Fear Street also stars Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink, though their Stranger Things characters Robin and Max cannot be played as survivors in Dead by Daylight.

Besides being a well-done horror trilogy, Fear Street also did a good job in terms of representation. While horror movies tend to have some amount of death in them, Black actors are disproportionately likely the first to be killed in the genre. While Fear Street still killed quite a few people, it’s notable because it didn’t kill its main Black or queer characters. Dead by Daylight is incredibly popular with the LGBTQIA+ community, so adding in Deena and her love interest, Sam, as survivors would be a nice way to see representation in-game.

Dead by Daylight is known for its online gameplay and horror collaborations, so it would be fun and exciting to see characters from Fear Street make an appearance. There’s no official word on this collaboration happening, but in the meantime, players can take advantage of all the other horror DLC crossovers in Dead by Daylight.

Dead by Daylight is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch,  Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
