In the latest Q&A session with his followers, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has warned fans about upcoming spoilers for the much-awaited film. The expectations for the film, which is being hailed as a soft-reboot of the 2016 movie of the same name, are high and fans are looking forward to Gunn’s take on the super-villains going on a mission to save the world.
In the past few weeks, a lot of promotional content has been released, including multiple The Suicide Squad trailers and exclusive footage from the film. However, in a tweet posted on Friday, Gunn stated that he has “tried to reveal only what was necessary” so far, but everything could lead to multiple spoilers soon. “Be careful what you watch/read online in the next couple weeks if you want to avoid spoilers,” Gunn wrote two weeks ahead of the film’s global release.

When asked by a fan on Twitter if more trailers would drop before The Suicide Squad premiered, Gunn confirmed that all the trailers have already been aired. But, fans can expect more exclusive clips and never-before-seen footage from the film in the next two weeks. On Friday, IGN released one such clip that featured Nathan Fillion’s The Detachable Kid, a.k.a. T.D.K., in action during an intense battle scene.
There has been a lot of talk about whether The Suicide Squad will have any post-credits scenes. While Gunn previously confirmed the presence of a mid-credits scene, in his latest chat with his Twitter followers, the director has revealed that there will be another one “after the credits roll.” This news has got fans excited as it promises more bonus content. Gunn also praised the crew that has “committed months of their lives to the movie,” and urges fans to stick around and see all their names featured in the credits roll. The post-credits scene is a gift for those who stay till the end.
Gunn has also confirmed that similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, a soundtrack for The Suicide Squad will be released soon, but he did not offer any further details. “More news on that front soon,” he writes. One thing that fans can be sure of is that the HBO Max series Peacemaker, which will feature John Cena’s The Suicide Squad character, will premiere in January 2022.
The Peacemaker series recently completed filming and Gunn has now confirmed its January 2022 release while also stating that it will be even more “over-the-top” than The Suicide Squad. That's probably saying something considering Gunn has promised all kinds of mayhem and blood-filled action sequences in The Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad will premiere in theatres and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
