PlatinumGames reveals new details about Babylon's Fall's closed beta, confirming it'll release in phases and when testers can get their hands on it.

Announced back in 2018, Babylon's Fall looks to be the next big release from Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames, bringing audiences to a fantasy world filled with magic, ancient monsters, and co-op action. Players were offered the chance to register for the game's closed beta back in June, and now it seems those who expressed interest in trialing the upcoming RPG have a better idea of when they might get their hands on it.

Announced via the official Babylon's Fall website, PlatinumGames has confirmed that the beta will release in three waves, with the first launching on Steam, the second on Steam and PlayStation 4, and the third on Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A very select number of players will get access to the "1st phase" over the next three weeks, with separate trials for Japanese, North American, and European audiences.

Japanese players will be the first to access the trial, getting it on July 29 at 6:00 PM JST to 10 PM JST. North American beta testers, on the other hand, will get it on August 5 at 6:00 PM PT to 10:00 PM PT. Finally, European players will be the last to access the beta, which will take place on August 12 from 6:00 PM BST to 10:00 PM BST. As for why the first beta will only last four hours, PlatinumGames claims it will have limited scope due to the fact it's more of a technical test. The studio even warns testers that they "might find the test in Phase 1 repetitive."

Subsequent tests will see Platinum expand the early preview and offer more content. They will also welcome more players, so those who haven't been invited to be a part of Phase 1 shouldn't rule out the chance of hopping into Babylon's Fall early just yet. Platinum also clarifies that those currently a part of the first phase will be invited to both of the following betas, so it seems once players are invited to take part, they're a part of the scheme as a whole.

Unfortunately, those wanting to register for the beta now are out of luck, with sign-ups for the preview closing earlier this month. For those unaware of Babylon's Fall, the game is an online RPG that sees players venture through an ancient world filled with monsters, dragons, and various other fantasy enemies. Although little has been revealed about the title outside of a few trailers and dev updates, fans do know they'll be able to use special equipment called Gideon Coffins, which let them wield deadly combinations of up to four weapons at one time.

Babylon's Fall is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
