The most recent Zelda title to receive the remaster treatment, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD provides fans with a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Released during the same year as The Legend of Zelda's 35th anniversary, there's a lot to love about Link's latest adventure on the Switch. Unfortunately, some players have been running into unforeseen problems that make enjoying the remaster a challenge. Recently, a glitch has been discovered that soft-locks players in a room, preventing them from finishing the game.
During part of the adventure where the player is in a room at the Lanayru Mining Facility, they are confronted with a small puzzle involving a box. In order to gain access to a new area, the player must reposition the box by pushing it along a pathway. Unfortunately, as a video clip posted on Reddit by Sawyerqs points out, the box can become stuck, preventing the player from solving the puzzle and continuing their progress in the game.

Sawyerqs isn't the only player being impacted by this frustrating bug in Skyward Sword HD. A number of users have chimed in on Reddit to give their thoughts on the glitch. It seems that those that encountered the bug on their playthrough had no other option but to restart the game and return to the original location. While restarting has fixed the issue for a lot of players and allowed them to advance past the room, others haven't been so lucky. Another player on Reddit known as Jdavis29209 commented that they "restarted the console a couple times now and reloaded a save," but they were still "soft-locked" in the room.
Even though many players are fortunate enough to escape the room without finding the glitch, it's no doubt that this is an extremely frustrating experience for those that encounter the issue. As the only solution is to restart the game, they are forced to traverse back to the previously explored area. This wastes a considerable amount of extra time that gamers could be investing into Skyward Sword HD's fun side quests instead.
While Skyward Sword HD is meant to help satisfy Zelda fans' hunger for a new installment in the series until Breath of the Wild 2 releases in 2022, this new glitch saps some of that enthusiasm out of an otherwise exciting new title on the Switch. It's a shame that this glitch appears to be preventing some players from seeing all the game has to offer. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo addresses this bug in the future.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is available now on Nintendo Switch.
