A fan sends his mother a picture of a Final Fantasy 7 Remake NPC because she looks like her, and it inspires his mother to get into cosplay.

When it comes to cosplay, many fans have taken up the challenge of bringing even the most complex character designs to life. Final Fantasy has its fair share of interesting characters, and players somehow manage to pull their looks off every time. What was once just a photo shared from one gamer to his mom became the inspiration for her to give cosplay a shot, and she ended up being the perfect fit for one Final Fantasy 7 Remake character in particular.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake got fans excited at the prospect of a remake that took their favorite game and made it up-to-date with how gaming has evolved since 1996. Alongside that, FF7R also made another side of its audience happy by also tying in key points of The Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 to the overall story by featuring characters like Kyrie Canaan. Kyrie, appeared in The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story, a novel published as part of The Compilation.

Reddit user GrinitD sent his mother a picture of Mireille Dudley, Kyrie's grandmother, because he thought she looked like her. The response GrinitD got from his mom was that she was going to try and match the Sector 5 Slums NPC's look. GrinitD shared the resulting image, and the resemblance is stunning. GrinitD was entirely right in that his mom looked exactly like Mireille, and the cosplay is spot on. The most impressive thing about it is that she didn't go shopping for the look; it was all from her own closet.

Fans have commented that she fits the character perfectly, and even makes the outfit look better in some areas, such as the goggles. Some fans are also saying she deserves to be seen as "legendary" like the Skyrim and Animal Crossing-playing grandmas, which GrinitD has done his part to pass on the compliments.

Even if the mother doesn't play any video games herself, the story is rather sweet in that she saw a photo her son sent thinking of her and decided to go as far as even dress up as the character pictured. It probably certainly helps that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake character shared her fashion sense it seems, but it's still a wonderful exchange between mother and son.

There's been many different Final Fantasy cosplays throughout the years, such as this incredible Kefka cosplay, but GrinitD's mother has made one to remember for sure.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PS4 and PS5.
