Season of the Lost continues on in Destiny 2 and players continue to unravel the mysteries of the Shattered Realm with the latest section opening up this week. It seems Bungie's latest season is also one of its most popular as not only does the player base continue to surge, but the 6 player Astral Alignment is proving to be a hit with players. A thread started on the Destiny 2 subReddit has since taken off, with players sharing appreciation for Astral Alignment and enjoying it more than last season's Override activity.
Even though the big Witch Queen expansion reveal is now in the rear view mirror, Bungie is still talking about its upcoming content as this current season leads up to it. Just recently, game director Joe Blackburn and general manager Justin Truman reiterated that the new Hive Guardians are meant to instill terror into players, similar to how their immortal guardians have done to enemies since the franchise began. With these deadily new enemy types, Bungie appears to be trying to turn the tables on player expectations.

With Friday now here, the weekend exotic gear merchant Xur has once again made his return to Destiny 2 with his newly expanded inventory. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he's brought for the weekend of September 10, 2021.
Where is Xur?
Over the next few days, players can find Xur inside the European Dead Zone at Winding Cove.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
Class Armor and Exotic Cypher
While Xur's role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.
With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.
Exotic Armor
Claws of Ahamkara - Warlock gauntlets
Over a year later, the Claws of Ahamkara are back in stock for Warlocks. These are a melee focused exotic armor with an intrinsic perk called The Whispers. This grants one extra melee charge that players can utilize.
It may not be the best or most exciting exotic gear out there, but it's pretty useful. While it ultimately may not replace the top tier options available for Warlocks, having an extra melee charge is never a bad thing for most game modes especially in the Crucible. It's worth a purchase this week for those who don't have it.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +12
- Recovery +20
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +8
- Strength +15
Liar's Handshake - Hunter gauntlets
A couple years ago, this armor was the source of a major damage bug, giving Hunters the ability to yeet enemies as well as obliterate bosses. While those issues have since been patched, this armor can still be fairly strong in the right hands. Cross Counter gives players the chance to follow up with an extremely powerful counterpunch that also heals after using an arc melee ability or being hit by a melee strike.
They're no longer top tier, but this is still an extremely fun exotic to use. Hunters also have the highest stat roll this week, coming in at a 65 total. However, the mobility is extremely low which may push some players away. Unfortunately, Hunter's have the lowest rolled item this week, which may sway some players on whether to buy this gear or not.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +9
- Resilience +9
- Recovery +12
- Discipline +7
- Intellect +12
- Strength +10
Helm of Saint-14 - Titan helmet
The Helm of Saint-14 exotic is made for Defender Titans, this helm is more of a support tool thanks to its intrinsic perk. Starless Night blinds enemies that enter Ward of Dawn while also giving allies an overshield when they pass through it. For those who don't want to use the Ward of Dawn, guarding with Sentinel Shield blinds nearby enemies as well.
Ultimately, this is a solid exotic choice for Titans, especially in PvE style content thanks to the Weapons of Light damage buff and Starless Night blinding effect. It basically guarantees safety for the player and the rest of the fireteam. At the very least, you can get a chuckle with this item by equipping it and then going to see Saint-14. He'll have a unique conversation ready to go as you approach him. The roll isn't great this week, though its higher in total compared to Hunters.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +19
- Recovery +11
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +17
- Strength +7
Exotic Weapon
The underrated Monte Carlo auto rifle is back in stock with Xur once more. The Monte Carlo Method is its intrinsic perk which reduces the player's melee cooldown when dealing damage with the gun. In addition, it gives a chance to fully charge the player's melee ability following each kill. Markov Chain pairs with this ability which gives the gun increased damage following melee kills and kills with the weapon. Melee kills also generate weapon ammo.
Even if they're not as strong as pulse rifles this season, auto rifles continue to be a solid choice in Destiny 2. Monte Carlo is more than a viable option for many players especially if they like to use their melee abilities often. For those who don't yet have this weapon, it's worth picking up this week.
Additional perks:
- Fluted Barrel
