The canceled Sinister Six movie was set to shake up the Spider-Man Universe, and Andrew Garfield even had a few meetings about the project.

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has opened up about the canceled Sinister Six movie that was set to happen in his movie universe. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was laying the groundwork for setting up the six villains who would make up the Sinister Six before the storyline ended up getting rebooted.

Based on the leaked emails from a while back, the canceled Sinister Six and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 film were set to bring Norman Osborn back from the dead through the use of Peter Parker's blood. It was also set to revive Gwen Stacy and her father before she becomes a version of Carnage, and the movie also had plans to have Spider-Man temporarily join the Sinister Six.

Garfield was talking to Collider and went on to say that he was really into the Sinister Six film. Sinister Six was set to be directed and written by Drew Goddard, who's notable works include Cabin in the Woods, The Martian, Daredevil, The Defenders, Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and World War Z. When speaking on the canceled movie, Garfield had nothing but good things to say, even going as far as to praise the director's other works. "I don't know how close it got, but I definitely had a few meetings, and it was really exciting. I've got to say, because I love Drew so much, and I love Cabin in the Woods, and the other stuff that he's made," the Spider-Man actor said. "We just got on like a house on fire. I loved his vision, he's so unique and odd and off-kilter and unconventional in his creative choices....Maybe one day he'll get to do it, but it would've been cool."

It's important to point out that Goddard didn't write or direct either movie, as fans were widely disappointed with The Amazing Spider-Man series' storyline. With Goddard on board, the story would've hopefully been much better than the earlier films. Fans, however, praised the Amazing Spider-Man films for the acting, set design, and even the special effects. The actors performed well, but they weren't handed a script that made fans want more, despite how much was set up behind the scenes.

Regardless, with rumors that Garfield will be returning for Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans can hopefully get a dose of what was supposed to happen in Sinister Six, along with a sense of nostalgia by seeing Garfield back as the famous web-slinger. Fans don't have to wait much longer to find out, as the film will be in theaters this December.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be in theaters on December 17th, 2021.
