There are four target challenges in this section of Kena: Bridge of Spirits that players can complete for rewards.

Quick Links

In Kena: Bridge of Spirits, players will unlock a ranged bow weapon after meeting up with Rusu; this will take place after defeating Kena's first boss Kappa. Once the bow is unlocked, players will be asked to complete some tests to make sure they have some practice with it before entering combat again.

Rusu's First Bow Challenge for Kena

There are five total challenge locations before moving on to the next area. Completing each of these will grant the player gems, karma, and will unlock a Rusu mask hat for Kena's Rot companions. Each of the challenge locations are clustered in the area just after the bow unlock cutscene. The first of these will trigger immediately after Kena draws her bow for the first time, but the other four will require players to look for them.

For this first challenge, players will get a feel for how the haptic adaptive controls work in Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Four flying targets will fly into the air, and players will need to shoot them down. It's not necessary for Kena to pull her bow all the way back to knock them down, but utilizing the full draw of the bow will help Kena's shots to be more accurate as less powerful arrows may start to lose height as they reach the targets.

In Kena: Bridge of Spirits, players fire arrows by first pressing and holding L2 to aim, then pressing and holding R2 to draw the bow. Releasing R2 will fire the arrow. The arrow will pulse with blue light for a split second when it is at full power. Keep in mind that Kena only has four arrows to start with; there will be a counter in the bottom right hand part of the screen to show when new arrows are available. There is about a four second cool down on arrow regeneration. After the first challenge is complete, head down towards the hat cart near Rusu's place to find the other four.

Rusu's Second Bow Challenge for Kena

Head toward the giant tree with orange leaves. Tangled in its branches are four targets that are ready to drop for Kena to shoot. In order to start this challenge, walk up to the tree and look for a lever object that the Rot can move. Press Square, then shoot all four targets before the timer runs out. Players will earn gems for completing this challenge.

Rusu's Third Bow Challenge for Kena

For the next box challenge in this non-AAA Sony video game, head down to the left of the giant tree and look for scaffolding. There will be three little coconut-shaped objects; shoot one of these to start the challenge. Three targets will fly into the air, then float down. Players will need to hit all three before the targets reach the scaffolding again.

Rusu's Fourth Bow Challenge for Kena

Next, head to the right of the third challenge's scaffolding, behind the giant tree. There will be a beauiful scenic overlook where players can enjoy Kena's stunningly beautiful visuals. But there will also be another bow challenge. In order to activate this one, players must again use the Rot to pull the lever. This challenge must be done three times to be completed.

  • First Challenge: Once the Rot pull the lever, four targets will fly into the air on either side of the lever platform. Shoot them all.
  • Second Challenge: Pull the lever again and several targets will fly into the air in batches.
  • Third Challenge: Many flying targets will shoot into the air on fairly quick timers, so players should shoot them in the order they appear.

Rusu's Fifth Bow Challenge for Kena

The last challenge starts on the opposite side of the giant orange tree from the third challenge near the shrine that is encased in corruption. Players will have just 30 seconds to follow the path around the tree and shoot six targets. In order to prevent players from heading the wrong way, the targets will have a swirl of blue glitter that moves from the target Kena just shot to the next one. But if players are really stuck on which way to head, they can turn on Kena's amazing photo mode which will freeze the 30-second timer and allow players to move the camera around to find the next target.

After completing these challenges, players can head to the hat cart to give their new Rot hat to one of their followers, and then move on to Taro's Love, which will get players several of Kena: Bridge of Spirits' trophies.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
