Popular Twitch streamer Nicholas Kolcheff, better known as Nickmercs, recently had his stream interrupted by none other than Mother Nature herself. Nickmercs has been playing Apex Legends and addressing some of its needs lately, but he took a brief return to form during the incident. While streaming the ever popular Call of Duty: Warzone, his camera cut away for a brief moment as a crash of thunder boomed in the background.
Instantly, Reddit detectives went about deducing what happened in that split second. Some believed that his actual home was struck by lightning, while others argued that it was actually a nearby tree that was struck. Nickmercs himself actually went on to describe the situation.

After his initial shock, he could be heard calling out to someone else in his home. That person confirmed that it was not his house that was hit by lightning, but rather a tree that was nearby. The thunder following that strike could be heard during the stream and understandably surprised the streamer. After it was confirmed to him that his property was hit by lightning, Nickmercs left his controller mid-game to assess the situation for himself.
Please note that the following clip has some offensive language.
While Nickmercs has played and given Call of Duty: Warzone tips in the past, he is primarily known for his Apex Legends streams as of late. He made the switch back to Call of Duty: Warzone due to a server issue in Apex Legends. Little did he know, his stream was in for a surprise that day.
There was no serious damage done by the strike, and Nickmercs himself appeared fairly light-hearted about the entire situation. Thankfully, no one was injured when the lightning struck. Nickmercs returned to streaming afterward, as he only suffered a minor power surge from the incident in question.
Commenters on Reddit were also able to shrug off the incident fairly quickly. After discussing the comedy in Nick’s reaction to the incident, they went on to discuss the dangers of using electronics during a thunderstorm and the importance of having a quality surge protector. Some even shared tips on how to keep electronics safe during storms. Some even raised concerns about Nickmercs's stance on cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone, showing some shock that he returned to the game.
At this time, all seems to be normal for Nickmercs following the incident. He was uninjured and his property received no damage. He was able to laugh off the situation and get right back into streaming afterward. Maybe he will take the whole thing as a sign that he should remain on hiatus from game. After all, some fans believe that Nickmercs is ruining Call of Duty: Warzone.
