October is a prime time of year for the horror game genre pushing out new titles and updates just in time for the spookiest holiday of the year. As one of the biggest horror games in the industry today, Dead By Daylight is no stranger to the spooky festivies as the title has consistently released new content for the Halloween season. With October just around the corner, Behaviour Interactive's popular multiplayer horror title recently revealed the game's upcoming DLC to ring in the spooky season.
Since its release in 2016, Dead By Daylight has grown into one of the most well-known horror games in the gaming world. The 4v1 multiplayer survival horror has spawned multiple crossovers with other popular horror franchises like last year's Silent Hill collaboration and the recent addition of Hellraiser's Pinhead as a new killer featured within the game. Dead By Daylight has released 23 DLC add-ons to the game so far adding a slew of new survivors, killers, and maps for players to experience and recently revealed the upcoming 24th DLC package to be added.

The newest update coming to Dead by Daylight, titled Hour of the Witch, was revealed Tuesday via a trailer on the official Dead By Daylight YouTube Channel. The short trailer showed off a witchy new Survivor joining the game's roster named Mikaela Reid.sporting a pair of red sunglasses and dark clothing. The trailer's description describes Mikaela as a writer with a focus on horror stories and a particular interest in witchcraft. The trailer did not give a hard release date for the Hour of the Witch DLC, simply stating it would release in October 2021.
While the reveal trailer did not show much about Mikaela's perks within Dead By Daylight, the character was released with today's 5.3.0 Update to the game's Player Test Build. Many players have already gotten to experience Mikaela's gameplay firsthand and her Survivor perks seem to focus on protection, offering healing and stealth bonuses to her and her teammates. Mikaela's support-focused gameplay will be competing with some of the best survivors in the game like Claudette Morel and David King.
Dead by Daylight's popularity seems to grow further with each passing year. Earlier this year, the massive horror title celebrated a major milestone reaching over 100,000 concurrent players and the game was made available on launch on both next-gen consoles. Behaviour Interactive has also continued to consistently push out new content for the game which has contributed to its longevity over the five years since its initial release. Dead By Daylight's long-lasting popularity is owed to its passionate fanbase and dedicated developers and both should help the game to thrive into the future.
Dead By Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, mobile devices, and Stadia.
