In a new playtest for Overwatch 2, fans receive a fresh look at Havana, Dorado, and New York during matches featuring Overwatch League teams.

Ever since Overwatch 2 was announced back at BlizzCon 2019, fans have been eager to receive more details about the sequel to the 2016 team-based shooter. Over the past couple of months, the developer has begun to unveil many details about the game, such as information about reworks for popular heroes Sombra and Bastion. Recently, Blizzard gave fans another in-depth look at gameplay, featuring matches on a couple of maps coming to the shooter.

This fresh look at Overwatch 2 comes from a new set of YouTube videos. In the featured gameplay, the developer showed off some maps coming to the sequel. Two of these maps, Havana and Dorado, were from Overwatch with updated visuals, and New York was a new hybrid map exclusive to Overwatch 2. While Havanna and Dorado were both existing maps, this new gameplay footage gave fans a chance to see what these maps look like at different times of the day. Havana was shown at night time (it was a day map), and Dorado was seen during the day (it was a night map).

One of the highlights of this new look at the game was that the footage showcased matches featuring professional Overwatch League teams. The two teams competing in the playtest were the San Francisco Shock and the Dallas Fuel. This allowed fans to see the new 5v5 team format, featuring two DPS, two Supports, and one Tank, in greater detail from players at the highest level of the game. Furthermore, the uploaded matches included commentary discussing team strategies and changes to the different characters and maps.

One exciting aspect of this new gameplay footage was the different perspectives on display. Not only did the developer upload gameplay footage cutting between different players to see the best moments of these Overwatch 2 matches, but full games shown from the perspective of one player were shared as well. These videos featuring Pro POVs included a DPS match with Doha, a Tank match with Super, and a Support match with Jecse. These matches gave players a closer look at what to expect from each role when the game eventually releases.

While fans continue to wait for the launch of Overwatch 2, Blizzard continues to support the original Overwatch as well. Recently, the developer released a new Deathmatch map for the game called Malevento. In addition, the annual Halloween event is expected to return soon, bringing a number of spooky skins to the game in the coming weeks.

Overwatch 2 is in development for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
