Taking inspiration from the popular Netflix show, an Overwatch fan creates artwork of Reaper and D.Va within Squid Game.

With Squid Game remaining one of Netflix's most popular shows at the moment, audiences everywhere have been inspired by its aesthetics, creating everything from memes to original artwork. That's the case with one Overwatch fan, who placed two of the game's characters in costumes from the show. While it appears simply meant to be a fun way to include two popular characters from Overwatch in the television show's world, it also would work well as inspiration for future skins.

The chances of having Squid Game-inspired anything within Overwatch are nil, it's still fun to think about. The artwork depicts Reaper as one of the workers, wearing all pink like the jumpsuits from the show. He's even wearing one of the worker masks -- in this case, one with a triangle on it. D.Va is also a part of the fan art, dressed as one of the players. The costumes in the show are fairly basic and not over the top like most within the hero shooter so, if anything, these would probably only be implemented epic skins.

While those skin may not cut it as legendary quality, other fan art concepts definitely do. A recent Aztec Sombra skin concept was shared by an Overwatch fan that would be an absolutely brilliant addition to the character's available cosmetics. It wouldn't necessarily fit in with any of the current seasonal event themes, but Blizzard could work it in somewhere -- the design is worth it.

One of the game's seasonal events is currently underway and with it are loads of fresh cosmetics. With nothing new in the ways of actual playable content, the thing players have to look forward to most are skins. This year, Halloween Terror brings eight new skins, three of which are earned through weekly challenges. The rest are legendary skins for Bastion, Brigitte, Echo, Lucio, and Reinhardt.

Since it's same old same old with this year's event, players have had to find their own ways to spice things up. One Overwatch fan found a neat trick using Moira's Halloween Terror emote. Her new "Boo" emote, which sees her walking away from the camera and then dashing back with a jump scare, allows players to make a super jump. It won't do her much good outside of the training area, however, since it utilizes the game's training bots.

There are suspicions that the lack of new content is due to Blizzard holding back until the release of the sequel, which is looking to shake the game up in interesting ways. The latest rumor is that Overwatch 2 could be ditching loot boxes. This could mean less RNG and more direct purchases for cosmetics by taking a page from Fortnite. If this turns out to be the case, having crossover events with shows like Squid Game wouldn't be too farfetched since the popular battle royale title does it regularly.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
