PlayStation knows how to deliver a good shoe, and the gaming company has done it yet again with the newly revealed Paul George PG 5 PlayStation 5 Colorway pair. The new sneakers are designed to look like a PS5, which is a great way to remind yourself every day that the actual consoles themselves aren't in stock.

The latest Nike collaboration is thanks to a partnership between PlayStation and NBA's Paul George of the LA Clippers. Some of the previous PlayStation-inspired shoes have been pretty hit or miss with aesthetics, but this new line actually does look stunning.

George took to the PlayStation Blog to talk about the new line of Nike shoes, saying that he's a die-hard PlayStation fan, has been all his life, and that this creative project is meant to reflect just that.

"Just like the PlayStation 5 console, the PG 5 is my platform to take my game to the next level, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring these two elements together in this new partnership with PlayStation," said George. "Nike and PlayStation designers, including Yujin Morisawa – the artist behind the PS5 console’s design – worked closely together to bring the spirit of my game and the look of PS5 to life in this unique collaboration."

Just like with his previous collaborations with Sony for branded PlayStation apparel, the tongue of the shoe itself will have the PG and PS logos seen on the front. The colors, as you can see in the reveal above, are the iconic white, blue, and black of the latest generation of PlayStation. Even the shape of the sneaker is a thoughtful representation of the PS5, modeled after the DualSense controller.

Want to get your hands on a pair of these exclusive George Paul PS5 Nike shoes? They are set to go live in select regions on May 14, 2021. You can download the Nike SNKRS app here to see if a location near you will have any in stock. Just be aware, much like the consoles themselves, they will likely sell out quickly. If you want a pair, make sure you plan ahead.

Will the real Bad Batch please stand up? Lucasfilm may have the Star Wars community singing the praises of The Bad Batch, the latest animated series to hit Disney+, but fans of the video game, Star Wars: Republic Commando, have the right to raise a slight stink. The character ensembles featured in the show and game are nearly identical, with both focusing on distinct class-based squads of clone troopers.

Lucasfilm has to know of the similarities between the two properties, and we hope a crossover is planned at some point. Seeing the Bad Batch exchange pleasantries or laser fire with Delta Squad (the group from the game), would be amazing and exactly what fans on both sides would want...but we'll also take a sequel to the game.

Republic Commando originally released in 2005, but has recently been made new again through a slightly enhanced port on Switch and PlayStation 4. Today, Funko surprised Republic Commando fans with a Pop figure of Boss (also known as RC-1138 in the game). This figure can be preordered exclusively at GameStop right now, and is expected to ship on August 4. For reasons I can't explain, this Boss figure glows in the dark.

While it's a bit odd he isn't joined by his squad of Rex, Fixer, and Scorch, he isn't launching alone. Funko is also releasing two different Pops of Iden Versio (from Star Wars Battlefront II's story campaign). The version you'll see the most is of Iden without her helmet. The rare chase version has the helmet on.

Following Hasbro's announcement of a Nightbrother Warrior Black Series figure earlier today, Funko is following suit with a Nightbrother Warrior Pop. All of these figures are GameStop exclusives. If you don't care for Republic Commando and are a bigger fan of The Bad Batch, Funko announced a line of Pops based on the show that features all five characters in the group. You can get your hands on these toys in June.

I loved watching The Simpsons, but I can't remember the last time I sat down to see what this family has been up to. It feels like it was at least a decade ago. With 32 seasons under its belt, this show has unprecedented staying power, and Disney+ could breath new life into it, especially with shorts like today's Star Wars Day surprise.

Titled Maggie Simpson in The Force Awakens From Its Nap, the newest Simpsons short is loaded with Star Wars fan service, and doesn't overstay its welcome. In any given scene, you may want to pause the show just to see how much Star Wars content is crammed onto screen. I especially loved the cameo of what appears to be a baby version of Kylo Ren.

True to Maggie's form, the episode is designed as a silent comedy, although BB-8 does talk through most of it. The episode delivers a lightsaber battle, a pretty damn good Death Star joke, and an unexpected death. It's well worth watching, and even impresses with its credits sequence, which features a number of pieces of art that again blend Star Wars and The Simpsons in fun way.

I don't think this short will get me back into The Simpsons, but I did walk away pleased by it, and knowing that there's still plenty of life left in this long-running animated series.

With Star Wars Day ending soon, it's not too late to enjoy other adventures in a galaxy far, far away. For more Star Wars celebration, check out some of our other coverage below:

Tuque Games creative art director Stefan Leblanc took to the PlayStation Blog to share some unique Dungeons & Dragons metal-inspired art. The key? Just don't care about the way the world looks, and that's a philosophy we can get behind. In the blog post, he shares never before seen Dark Alliance concept art and to him, it's every metal fan's dream

Leblanc shared concept art for Dark Alliance from Vincent, Victor, Stanimir, Jorge, Fred, Dimitri, and Even, and everything shown looks nothing short of gorgeous. "The concept of Dark Alliance is simple," he said. "It’s you and your friends versus this alliance between legions of monsters. The monsters really started to take on a life of their own as we developed the game. In a way, they’re the stars of the show. They’re what you are going to remember when you talk about Dark Alliance with your friends."

You can see a plethora of new images from the world of Dark Alliance in our gallery below:

Leblanc mentioned that it was an interesting experience exploring what the team wanted the monsters to look like, and that as an artist he found it easy to find inspiration in various cultures. "To me," he said, "the best way to showcase a culture is through its music and dance." That pull is what inspired the game's overall style and the music that players can enjoy, but with a fresh fantasy spin.

So where exactly does the heavy metal come into play? He mentioned that when one day he was abruptly asked to describe Dark Alliance's art style in two words, the first immediate thought was "heavy metal." He did clarify that he meant the art style that surrounds this musical genre, not necessarily the music itself. While the game sounds are orchestral in nature, he pulled from heavy metal albums like Apocalypto to draw inspiration from.

"We also obviously take a lot of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragon art that has come before us," he added. "The cool thing about D&D is there have been so many unique interpretations of its art over the decades. There is no one set style. But it all still looks high fantasy at the end of the day."

For the characters seen in Dark Alliance, Leblanc took a step back away from heavy metal and leaned more into classic D&D inspiration with R.A. Salvatore's descriptions of certain characters in his novels. That character art can also be seen in the gallery above, especially with the two characters on the left side. Think boy band but then make it fantasy.

Intrigued by the heavy metal? Naturally, you should be. You can learn more about what Dark Alliance will have to offer with our previous coverage here
