HBO has a new adaptation in the works with The Last of Us TV series on the way. The upcoming show is getting ready to "go on the road" because filming is set to begin in Calgary, as confirmed by the Director's Guild of Canada.

In a new report from CBC Canada, the Director's Guild has confirmed the location and the time after months of rumors that this is where the show was headed. The Guild currently says that the HBO take is set to begin filming on July 5, 2021, in Calgary, with an expected wrap-up slated for June 8, 2022. Alberta Premier's Jason Kenney also hinted recently in a Facebook livestream that there would be a "very exciting announcement" dropping soon regarding the show.

With Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) leading the casting charge as Joel and Ellie, the "exciting announcement" could be more casting reveals now that the team is prepared to begin filming in just a few short months. Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole) is also slated to direct the upcoming HBO series alongside Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) as lead writer and co-executive producer.

The team behind the newest adaptation promises that it will stay faithful to the first game but will feature new material to make it a fresh experience. Those who may be concerned that this original content will mean a complete retcon, don't be. According to a previous interview with Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us games, the director has a "deep understanding" of the world that Naughty Dog crafted with the first game, its following expansion, and its sequel.

Under the helm of Sony Pictures Television, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog, the upcoming series will be a new beginning for the franchise following The Last of Us Part II's release. The games themselves artfully intertwined combat and narrative cutscenes, so a TV show format-style is already there. With so much love for the first game within the gaming community, it will be interesting to see what sort of changes are made to the storyline we fell in love with, to see a fresh lens on a universe that was a vital part of the last generation.

Capcom has shared quite a bit about Resident Evil Village, but everything seen thus far has been focused on how the new game runs on PlayStation 5. Now, we've got some new Resident Evil Village gameplay to feast those eyes on, this time centering around the PS4 Pro.

The latest look comes courtesy of IGN and while the scenes themselves are nothing new, it is the first time we've seen anything on last-gen hardware. The good news is that the two versions don't look terribly different, which is great considering so many still can't get a hold of a PlayStation 5 due to shortages and scalpers. The fact that the PS4 Pro version looks identical to the PS5 version is a good thing. For those that have a PlayStation 5 and wanted their time to be special, the PS5 has features that previous generations don't have, including faster loading times, more intuitive haptic feedback, 3D audio, and more.

We'll be getting even more new looks at Resident Evil Village this month because Capcom has another showcase planned for the upcoming horror title. We don't know the exact date of the showcase, only that one is on the way following the previous event held in January.

For those that may have missed the January showcase, it showed off extensive gameplay for Resident Evil Village, including more on the Merchant, the Big Tall Vampire Lady (Lady Dimitrescu), and heralded in a PS5-exclusive demo. For those that couldn't play the PS5 demo for one reason or another, another early play period will arrive for last-gen players sometime before the full launch of the game in May.

Regarding the game itself, Resident Evil Village arrives on May 7 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players. Are you excited to see how the game runs on a PS4 Pro? Resident Evil Village is very much still a mystery, and we love Capcom for it. That being said, who is this mysterious masked figure that recently popped up in new promotional artwork for the latest game?

Twitter account @BIOHAZARDcast, an account that has shared numerous accurate information in the past regarding the Resident Evil franchise, recently shared new promotional art spotted in Japan. Ethan Winters is once more spotted alongside Chris Redfield and Rose, but another new face (face-ish) has been added into the mix with a Harlequinesque masked figure in the bottom left.

Resident Evil Village has werewolves; it has vampires; it has a Merchant that looks straight out of Alice in Wonderland; the latest horror game in the Resident Evil franchise is shaping up to be something special. Regarding the context of the latest promotional art, it's unclear who this person is, but Capcom definitely did what they could to cram as much into this image as possible.

Looking at the above promotional art, you can see Chris Redfield holding Rose, Ethan and Mia's daughter. Since Ethan Winters is a focal point of the newest game, it's not surprising to see him also be a major part of the latest artwork.

When looking at the masked figure in the bottom left, it could be argued that this may be Mother Miranda. If you remember, Lady Dimitrescu could be previously heard talking to someone with this title in a previous look at Village. The glow in the eye certainly hints that this is someone of a similar lineage to Lady D, but is that a hint at the supernatural or just a cool edited look to make this character stand out? We don't know, but it looks like we could be learning more soon with the upcoming showcase.

So who do you think this masked figure is in the most recent Resident Evil Village promo art? Any guesses? Sound off in the comment section below with all of those spooky theories. You can also check out the latest PS4 Pro gameplay footage just released right here
